The Best Italian Bread Dipping Oil. This super easy olive oil dip is  It is the perfect easy recipe for your next dinner party. I place it in a medium flat bowl and surround it with chunks of warm bread.

Why I love this recipe

I could eat Italian food everyday (let’s be honest- I do). Why? For me, it’s the simplicity of the ingredients.

My heart sings when I see sweet ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, garlic, good olive oil, and fresh bread. Most Italian recipes start and end with a good olive oil- one of my faves for cooking and tasting right out of the bottle is- Colavita first cold pressed.

Good Quality Olive Oil for Bread Dipping

This Colavita oil is a perfect balance between fruity and spicy with the most delicate flavor. This oil is the start of sautéing my onions for my Sugo al Pomodoro (classic tomato sauce) and the last drizzle on my Easy Bruschetta Recipe with Mozzarella and Tomato Basil. Let it be yours too!

Simple Ingredients

  • Extra virgin olive oil (I suggest Colavita brand)
  • Balsamic vinegar (good quality variety from Modena Italy)
  • Garlic
  • Oregano
  • Rosemary
  • Fresh basil, minced
  • Coarse sea salt + black pepper to taste
  • French baguette, ciabatta, homemade fresh Italian bread, sourdough bread

Italian bread dipping oil is delicious drizzled on goat cheese or mozzarella cheese, use as a salad dressing on fresh green salads or vegetables, on warm salads, or serve on Prosciutto Melon Arugula Salad. Enjoy this simple recipe as a last-minute appetizer when friends show up unexpectedly.

Serve with a bottle of good Italian wine and enjoy the evening. You will feel like you are dining at a nice Italian restaurant while staying right at home.

Use as a glaze after cooking or roasting vegetables. It adds depth and tanginess to hearty roasted veggies.

Try it on: carrots, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and zucchini. You can even try it as a chicken breast marinade.

Top Tips

  • Use fresh garlic. Don’t use a jar of minced garlic. This makes a huge difference in the overall taste of the Italian bread dipping oil.
  • Use quality olive oil. You don’t have to spend loads of money to get good olive oil. You can find a great bottle at almost any grocery store. Look for something cold pressed for the best taste since you are eating it raw.
How long does olive oil dip last?

This best olive oil bread dip recipe is best right after it is made! This recipe is so simple and since it only takes minutes to make you won’t mind making it even at the last minute when you crave it again.

Since this recipe contains raw garlic it is best to store it in the fridge in an air-tight container if you have any leftovers. Simply bring it back to room temperature when ready to serve again.

  1. I like a bit more vinegar, but it was still so good. I served it to my family and the little ones were even dipping and loving it. I will definitely make this again.
