Get ready to indulge in a cozy, comforting, and oh-so-delicious Italian Braciole recipe. Thin slices of steak stuffed with a mix of Italian herbs, two types of cheese, prosciutto, and breadcrumbs!

Ingredients

garlic

provolone cheese

olive oil

prosciutto

red wine 

salt

Prepare the sugo al pomodoro sauce then stir together bread crumbs, garlic, cheese, parsley, and basil in a bowl.

Step 1

Add half of the olive oil to the bread crumbs mixture and season them, then set aside.

Step 2

Lay the flank steak and pat it dry with paper towels. Pound the meat and season with salt and pepper.

Step 3

Sprinkle and cover the meat with the breadcrumb mixture.

Step 4

Layer the prosciutto over the breadcrumb mixture.

Step 5

Roll the steak to seal the filling and tie it securely using a butcher's twine.

Step 6

Cook the braciole over the heated olive oil until browned on all sides. Add the wine and bring it to a boil, then stir in the tomato sauce.

Step 7

Cover the braciole with foil or lid and bake then baste it with sauce every 30 minutes. Uncover it and bake until tender.

Step 8

Braise the meat for up to 3 hours and ensure the sauce doesn't reduce too much.

Step 9

Let the braciole rest, remove the twine, and remove it from the sauce.

Step 10

Place the slices on the plates and spoon the sauce over and serve.
