Cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy in a mixing bowl.
Add the eggs to the mixing bowl, one at a time, while beating after each addition. Add and beat in the mashed bananas, sour cream, and vanilla extract.
Whisk the flour and baking soda in a separate bowl and gradually add them to the banana mixture.
Spread the banana batter evenly into the prepared baking pan.
Bake in the preheated oven until the top is golden brown. Remove from oven and let it cool.
Beat the softened butter and cream cheese in a bowl until smooth and creamy.
Beat in the vanilla extract and salt. Then, gradually add and beat the confectioner's sugar.
Spread the cream cheese frosting evenly over the top of cooled banana bars.
Garnish with sliced bananas and serve.
Test the banana bars for doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center. The toothpick should come out clean.
