Best Butterfly Fried Shrimp

The shrimp are lightly coated in a perfect blend of panko breadcrumbs and seasoning and then pan-fried until crispy and golden brown. Serve with a squeeze of lemon or your favorite cocktail sauce for an unbeatable taste.

Ingredients

Mix flour, salt, pepper, and old bay seasoning in a bowl. And in a separate bowl, whisk the eggs and water.

Step 1

Wash and rinse the shrimp, then pat dry with paper towels. Slice the shrimp to form a butterfly in a lengthwise incision.

Step 2

Coat the shrimp in flour mixture, then dip them into the egg mixture.

Step 3

Then coat the egg-coated shrimp in panko bread crumbs. Press lightly, making sure it's coated on both sides.

Step 4

Heat the oil until hot and fry the shrimp. Cook for 2 minutes on each side and in batches. Remove using a slotted spoon.

Step 6

Transfer the cooked shrimp to a dish with paper towels.

Step 7

Transfer the cooked shrimp again to a serving platter and serve with lemon wedges and sauce.
