Classic Italian Panna Cotta Dessert

A yummy treat that is smooth, decadent, and luxurious, panna cotta is a classic Italian dessert.

It's incredibly easy to make and can be prepared in advance!



vanilla extract

Dissolve the gelatin over the cold water in a small bowl. Then, heat the heavy cream and sugar, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves.

Step 1

Sir in the vanilla extract to the saucepan with heavy cream and sugar mixture. Remove them from the heat and add the gelatin mixture.

Step 2

Wisk the gelatin-heavy cream mixture until the gelatin dissolves completely. Divide the cream mixture evenly into 4-5 cups.

Step 3

Let them cool and cover each cup with plastic wrap and let them set in the fridge for 4 hours or overnight. 

Step 4

While the panna cotta rest, combine the berries, sugar, and lemon juice in a medium saucepan over medium heat.

Step 5

Stir the mixture frequently until the berries begin to break down. In a small bowl, whisk the cornstarch and water until smooth.

Step 6

Stir in the cornstarch mixture to the berry mixture and combine. Bring the mixture to a boil, then simmer until the sauce thickens.

Step 7

Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool to room temperature. Puree the berry mixture until completely smooth.

Step 8

Use a spoon to add berry sauce over the top of the panna cotta and serve. Top with extra berries and mint if desired.
