Salt & Pepper Air Fryer Crispy Calamari

The healthier version of an Italian staple, these crispy-on-the-outside, tender-on-the-inside "fried" calamari are simple to make in the air fryer! From scratch, ready in just 20 minutes.

Prepare the calamari. Pound it using a kitchen mallet to tenderize and cut it into 1/2 inch thick rings. Pat dry using a paper towel.

Step 1

Mix the salt, pepper, and breadcrumbs in a bowl. And in a separate bowl, pour some olive oil. 

Step 2

Dip the calamari rings in the oil and slightly shake it to remove excess. Then, toss the calamari rings into the breadcrumb mixture and gently press to coat.

Step 3

Lay the coated calamari on a baking sheet. And preheat the air fryer and lightly grease the air fryer basket with oil.

Step 4

Arrange the calamari rings in a basket and don't overcrowd.

Remove and place the calamari on a plate and season to suit your taste. Repeat the process for the remaining batches of calamari.
