Caramel Italian Flan Recipe

No need to impress anyone—this Creme Caramel Custard Flan is a crowd pleaser!

Get this classic Italian dessert, that's always a hit at every party. The creme caramel flan is an easy recipe that looks and tastes like something you'd find in a fancy restaurant.


Whole milk Granulated Sugar Large eggs Vanilla pod Salt Lemon peel or lemon zest


Cook the sugar in a saucepan to make the caramel. 

Step 1

Then, pour it at the bottom of the bundt pan.

Step 2

In a separate saucepan, cook the milk and lemon peel until it's just hot then remove from heat.

Step 3

Beat the eggs with the remaining sugar. Then, whisk the mixture with the warm milk. 

Step 4

Whisk in the salt and vanilla extract to the egg and milk mixture, and stir to combine.

Step 5

Pour the custard mixture through a mesh strainer and into a large bowl, then pour it again into the bottom of the pan with the caramel.

Step 6

Pour boiling hot water into the bottom of the roasting pan without splashing the mixture in the bundt pan, then bake.

Step 7

Allow the flan to cool. Then, wrap the bundt pan with plastic wrap and refrigerate.

Step 8

When serving, gently run a butter knife near the edges of the bundt pan, and tip upside down onto a flat plate. 

Step 9

Use warm milk

Use room temperature eggs.

Bake low and slow at a gentle heat
