Stuffed Calamari in Tomato Sauce

Who says you need to go out to eat when you can make this delicious Italian Stuffed Calamari Recipe at home? It’s quick, easy and so delicious that everyone will want seconds!

Ingredients

bread crumbs

pecorino cheese

calamari

salt & pepper

Ingredients

dried red pepper flakes

olive oil

Wash and rinse the calamari, then pat dry with paper towels. Chop off the tentacles and finely chop them.

Step 1

Cook the garlic and red pepper flakes over heated olive oil. Add the tentacles, then add wine. Let it simmer and season. 

Step 2

Combine and stir the bread crumbs, egg, cheese, and parsley in a medium bowl.

Step 3

Add the cooled sautéed tentacles to the breadcrumb mixture and combine. Set aside.

Step 4

Stuff the calamari with the tentacles and breadcrumb mixture. Press it down and close it with a toothpick.

Step 5

Sauté a garlic clove and red pepper flakes in olive oil and add the stuffed squid. Turn them in the oil until they turn an opaque white.

Step 6

Stir in the tomato paste and salt and mix thoroughly, cover, and lower the heat.

Step 7

Simmer until tender. Then, transfer to a serving platter and remove the toothpicks.

Step 8

Stuffed Calamari Tips:

Do not fill the calamari to the top.

Serve warm with crusty bread.
