This rich decadent syrup contains pure ingredients you can feel good about eating and the process takes a pinch of your time. We add a little sea salt and cinnamon to create a warm and deep flavor with a twist. Trust me, take an extra step and make your chocolate syrup.
Boil hot water and set aside. Combine the sugar, cocoa powder, and salt together in a saucepan. Wisk to combine.
Add hot water whisking constantly over low heat until the mixture thickens and begins to simmer (about 8-10 minutes).
Remove from heat and stir the vanilla and cinnamon (if desired) into the syrup. You will know it is done when it sticks to the back of a spoon.
Serve warm or store and refrigerate until serving.
Notes
Store chocolate syrup in a mason jar or air-tight container in the fridge. It will last about 2 months.*If making hot or cold chocolate milk add 1-3 tablespoons per 8 oz of milk. It depends on how sweet you like it! Serve over ice cream, or use it as the liquid for homemade tiramisu.
