A Taste Of Christmas Tradition
Christmas in Italy, both in Northern Italy and Southern Italy, is pure magic.
Italian families gather around large tables and enjoy endless spreads of traditional foods. Families pass many of these recipes from generation to generation.

Christmas Eve, or La Vigilia di Natale, is one of the most cherished celebrations in Italy. After attending Christmas Mass, families gather for a festive seafood feast, often featuring seven different fish and shellfish dishes. This beloved tradition, rooted in Catholic custom and especially strong in Southern Italy, honors the practice of abstaining from meat on Christmas Eve while celebrating the bounty of the sea. Each family has its own treasured recipes and preparations, lovingly shared from one generation to the next, making every Christmas Eve table uniquely special.
Here are some of my favorite seafood dishes to help you create your own memorable La Vigilia menu.
